Why are Influencers so Hard to Trust

According to the Oxford Online Dictionary, an Influencer is "A person with the ability to influence potential buyers of a product or service by promoting or recommending the items on social media".
However, if this is the definition of an influencer why is it so hard for the consumer to trust them? This topic has been on my mind for a very long time and I think I finally got my ideas clear enough to write this blog post. In a world where anyone with a smartphone is able to become an influencer, is easy to fall into the trap of losing credibility in order to make more money.

For example, if I see 10 different girls posting similar pictures with similar captions promoting the exact same product in a way that we can almost see that their text and picture style was a copy paste from one another I automatically lose interest in them as influencers, it makes it 10 times harder for me to buy said product because I feel like all the opinions we find online ware made by the brand, instead of being thoughtful and honest reviews that would help their followers make a decision. I truly believe that for a person to be called an influencer said person has to be able to influence someone, however by following this copy paste, no creativity, give me the money mentality the only thing that they will achieve is to screw it up, not only for them but for everyone else who works hard, has some good ethical values and whose goal is not to sell stuff but to simply share their passions with their followers.

So how do we chose who can we trust? Well, in my opinion there a few things that really can help. Firstly be sure that you are being informed when a piece of content was paid for. Any social media post you see with the #AD indicates that the content was sponsored by a brand and that the person behind the page is being paid to share said post with their followers, this applies to everyone from Kim Kardashian to any person with 100 followers if there is an #AD the content was paid. This may be taken from different approaches, but when I see someone being totally opened about the content that they are creating, the PR they are receiving and when you can see that they put the exact same amount of work and honesty in an #AD that they do in all their other posts, I am 100% more likely to trust them, their opinions and their recommendations.

Influencers marketing is something that has grown a lot in the last couple of years, because this type of advertisement is a lot closure to the consumer, and the person who is advertising plays both roles in their lives. They are both the consumers and the advertisers, they try other products for other brands and share that experience with the public. They are real human beings with real opinions, that they normally share.
This type of advertisement is not supposed to be scripted, like a TV AD campaign, it's supposed to be as real as all the content the person shares and that is why it works. When brands start to control content produced by influencers the trust is broken, the public suspects that something has been scripted and I normally unfollow the person immediately. Instagram has already enough ADs that I didn't ask to see as it is.

Anyway, I feel like if we keep our eyes opened and if we are truly aware of who we follow this won't be a problem. If we built a relationship with the person who is creating content we can easily see if something changed because we get used to their approach to all different topics. If we get a wrong vibe from a post, well 99% it's for a reason. I by no means am trying to attack bloggers, Instagrammers, YouTubers and content creators in general by writing this post. I just want to share my thoughts, all content creation careers are built based its trust. Most of us work our asses off to be able to get deals with brands, but we need to ask ourselves if selling out our integrity is worth it for a couple of bucks and if the answer to that question is yes, I guarantee, you are doing it for the wrong motives.

3 Things That Will Guarantee You Love The Content You Are Creating|| Blogger Tips

Lately, I've been seeing a lot of bloggers, Instagrammers, influencers or whatever you want to call them,  that in a way I feel are putting up content just for the sake of putting something up. I have also fallen under that trap once or twice before, but lately (and even though I know I wasn't the most consistent during the month of October) I've been totally and deeply in love with all the content I am producing, either that being for Instagram or for the Blog.
I feel like if you are not 100% in love with the object of your creation is away easier to fall out of track, to stop wanting to post and to fall into a rut. Today I am going to share with you a few of the tips that I have so that you are passionate about the content that you are creating and that will make it easier to pass that passion to your followers.

Question yourself: Why are you doing this? What is your main goal?: If your main goal is making money I don't think you are coming from the right place. I can talk from experience, never in my life was I paid to write a blog post, post a picture on Instagram or tweet about something and even though I would like my blog to become profitable in some way in the future, this is not why I blog (if it was I would have given up a long time ago). I blog because I want to share my vision and my thoughts about different subjects to the world, I want to help people who may relate to me in some sense. My blog, to me, is my creative outlet and I absolutely love it, it's my baby and it's the place where I can be 100% myself and where no one will judge me for it. Following this, all the content I produce has to show this in a way, has to be filled with passion and personality, if it shows that there is a 50% bigger chance of me loving the content I am creating.

Produce content firstly for you, then for your audience: Would you read your own post/ like your own picture or retweet your own tweet? If the answer is no,  most likely your audience will feel the same way. You have to be pleased with whatever it is that you are producing, just drop it. In an industry like this one you have to your number one fan, you have to push through the lonely times, when brands said no to you and every single time you felt that you simply weren't good enough. Blogging is a lonely job even if you have an amazing community behind you that supports you and that is always there to cheer you up. There are no coworkers, you are building your brand and if your brand should be something is based on things that you absolutely love and would consume yourself, this includes not only products but also creative productions such as blog posts, photographies, art, web design, etc.

Figure out what works and what doesn't: This step is very important and it can only be achieved based on a trial and error process. Lately, I've been narrowing my style of writing and shooting a lot more. I figured I love to shoot flat lays and more aesthetically pleasing images of products rather than simply more studio like photographies. I've figured I like to share my personal story with the products I talk about away more than simply reviewing them. I figured I prefer to shoot outfits outside and have my picture taken, instead of using a tripod for advice or fashion posts, however, I prefer to be my own photographer when it comes to beauty and makeup posts, because I can get a better angle and a better way to represent myself in a more personal and creative way.
This, I repeat, doesn't happen overnight, you don't wake up one day having it all figured out, you learn from trying different options and different techniques, but believe me, once you do have it figured out you will be much happier and excited about getting anything ready.

And these are my top three tips on how I make sure I am always loving the content you are producing. Realizing these little things has helped me a lot when it comes to staying motivated to blog and if this post helps at least one of you it will truly make my day! I would love to hear your thoughts on this subject so feel free to drop me a comment so that we can engage.

3 Bloggers to star following in 2018 || Blogger Tips

Today I decided to share with you 3 bloggers with whom I fell in love in 2017 and that made me fall in love with blogging again. I started following them kind of on the daily basses when I relaunched my blog back in May. I've talked to them on twitter and they are all super lovely and at the same time, they manage to keep it real on their insta stories and their other social media platforms.

Maria J Blogs: Maria is the nicest girl out there. She was the one who helped me star my twitter account and she is also always ready to help me out and truly a DM away. As a blogger her content is amazing, she takes the most amazing photos to illustrate her posts and at the same time writes in such a way that keeps everyone craving for more. She is definitely an inspiration to any newer blogger and mark my words, this girl will be as big as Zoella one day!

Loula Belle Rose: Lauren is the coolest! Her photography is amazing and she is a total  #GirlBoss! Even though blog isn’t her only job she works her ass off and she posts all the time! Her posts are always fun to read and really chill. If you like bloggers that can pass the whole best friends talk vibes when they write, my girl Lauren is the one to follow.

Beth Sandland Xo: Beth has the most aesthetically pleasing blog I've ever seen. Her photography skills are amazing. This may sound crazy once you check her out but she has only been blogging for one year, which is really hard to believe once you see how amazingly planned, photographed and written all of her content is. She is, in my humble opinion the queen of blog tips, and the fact that she has 25K Instagram followers and 2.5K Twitter ones after only one year of blogging should mean something.

What are the best bloggers you followed in the past year? Am I missing out on anyone?

5 youtubers you need to subscribe to || Blogger Tips

I believe that we as creators should support other creators. Today for the second day of blogtober I decided to share my favorite YouTubers with you...

There are so many creative and incredible content producers on youtube. As a blogger, I personally must confess that I watch a lot more youtubers then what I care to admit. I watch all kinds of videos from cooking to beauty, travel, and vlogs everything is up my alley as long as it is done with love and passion. Today I'm going to share five of my personal favorite creators, I hope you like it.

Even tho I am the worst drawer in the world I love to Bullet Journal and Amanada RachLee is the Queen of the BuJo community (at least in my opinion). I love to watch her Plan with me videos, they are really well filmed and edited and super inspiring, also Amanda is one of the nicest persons out there and has a super cute bubbly personality that can bright anyone's day.

I've been watching Tati ever since I started watching youtube 5 years or something ago. She is an incredibly talented makeup artist who creates amazing, yet wearable makeup looks. She is the one who makes me want to try purple eyeshadow or bright pink mascara. She also has for sure tired every single makeup item you can think of and does super brutal honest reviews. I personally never buy a product without checking her review of it and 9 out of 10 times, if she likes it, I like it too. I love to go for the motto if it's good enough for Tati it's good enough for me.

There are various reasons to love Raquel Mendes. First of all, she is Portuguese like your girl over here, even tho she lives in London at the moment. I've been watching her videos ever since she started her channel back in 2015. I love her skincare videos. Once Raquel has a very blemish prone skin and deals with severe breakouts she knows a lot about skincare and its ingredients and I never miss a skincare video from her. Her foundation reviews are also amazing. Also, she has a great personality with a super funny and different sense of humor (which I consider to be very similar to mine).

I don't even know where to begin regarding Kalyn Nicholson. I'm gonna say it: She is the most inspirational person out there. She makes me want to achieve my goals, go to the gym, meal prep and be productive all day every day. She has amazing editing skills and all of her videos remind me of 10 minute long movies.
Kalyn has also an amazing music taste and I find myself listening to her playlists on Spotify all the time. If you are going to subscribe to anyone on this list, make sure Kalyn is the one you chose! Also, she is doing YouTober in which she uploads a new video every single day during October, so this is the perfect month to subscribe to her!

Last but absolutely not least comes Anna from The Anna Edit, Anna is my all time favorite British blogger. I love all of her videos, they feel super real and she really makes all her viewers feel like we are her friends. I love her minimalist, Scandinavian inspired, black from head to toe style and her minimalist makeup looks. She is really an inspiration when it comes to minimalism regarding any aspect of life. She is one of my favorite creators of all time and I really recommend that you subscribe to her channel if you are into minimalism, capsule wardrobes, and super fun 20 minute long vlogs.

Those are the 5 youtubers I am totallyobsessedd with at the moment! I really hope you guys liked this post and please let me know who are your favourite content creators on youtube!

ABC of getting motivation to come back|| Blogger Tips

If you have been there for a long time you know that I'm the worst at keeping a schedule when it comes to my blog. I lose motivation super easily, maybe because I'm a huge perfectionist or because I feel like I'm not reaching the audience I want to reach. Anyhow it has been two months since my last post. I don't want to excuse myself with something like my dog ate my homework, but I've had bigger things in my mind then the blog lately, that mixed with the lack of motivation created kind of a snowball that kept growing bigger and bigger.
But I decided to escape, to say NO! and to get back to do what I love, after all I've put too much time and effort into this blog to just give up.
And that is why I decided that this post was the perfect one to make my come back, I'm gonna tell you a few tips to stay tuned and motivated.

1. Refresh the face of your blog

People get tired of seeing the same thing over ad over again, you will eventually get tired of having the same "look" on your blog after a while and if you are feeling unmotivated I promise giving a fresh face to your platform it will feel like a fresh start to you and your readers will appreciate it too.

2. Social media is key

I can assure you that the only thing that kept me from giving up completely was Instagram. I have a passion for photography, and for sharing my pictures with the world, and that is why no matter how uninspired I feel I will ALWAYS occasionally post a picture or two on Instagram. I love the freedom that it gives me (that is the reason why I suck at sticking to a theme as you can see on the print from my feed).
Also last weekend I created a twitter account to my blog. This has opened me so many doors, now I feel that I have a platform in which I can follow and be followed by other bloggers that post in English, which is amazing because I've had a really hard time putting the word out there about my blog when it comes to a English audience and I finally feel like I'm in the right path!
By the way, if you want to follow me on ANY social media platform in @annesperks

3. Go on a brain dump

I would be so lost without my Bullet Journal (don't worry I will have a post about it soon). It's where I keep track of all of my appointments and events but also the place in which I can have huge brain dumps. I like to grab a pen and just write down a bunch of ideas and things I think might work for the blog on my BuJo, which I found makes it A LOT easier when it comes to shoot or write for a specific post. I get inspired to do this from social media (see above) and from other bloggers (there will also be a blog post on bloggers that inspire me soon).
By the way: How do I know that blog post Y or X is coming soon? Because I use my BuJo to plan ahead of time as well, which I've noticed keeps me more on track of what is going on.

PS:. I got myself a new schedule to post, so every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:30AM you will have a new blog post!

What are your tips on how to feel motivated again?

10 things I love about being a blogger and being part of the blogsphere

I feel awful because I said that I was going to come back to post every two days but it's been another week without blog posts, videos or things of any kind. If you follow me on Instagram (which by the way you totally should @anateresap1997) you would know that my life has been something like waking up, going to work, going to bed. It's really hard to work in a night club and spend or day sleeping but I'm starting to get into a schedule and hopefully starting to have more time to do some blog related work. Today I'm going to do a blog post on the top 10 thing about being a blogger in my modest opinion so I really hope you all like it.

1- Bloggers come in all shapes and sizes, there is no right body type to be a blogger, you can find real life people with body types that are similar to yours and that wear amazing outifits that will fit you perfectly as well. That for me is a lot better that looking at super thin models and comparing them to yourself.

2- You make friends that are into the same things that you are, none of my not blogger friends love makeup as much as I do, it's amazing to find people with the same interests and make amazing friendships.

3- People will appreciate your hard work, nothing makes me happier then read and reply to blog comments, it's amazing that another person spends a bit of their day reading what is on my mind or looking at the pictures that I take.

4- You do what you love, and there is nothing better than doing what you love.

5- It's an incredible way of self expression, and it also gives you the change of sharing your thoughts with the world.

6- It changes the way you look at the world, for example, when I go to the drugstore or surf the web I'm always looking for new products to try out, when I try new products I'm always making a pros and cons list in my head so that I can write a honest review, or when I walk in the street I'm always looking for backgrounds for shooting an outfit post, etc

7- You learn everyday, everything I know about photography, video or photo editors, etc. I learned because of blogging.

8- You know that people are being honest when they write about something ,  and if not believe me you will know.

9- The blog will see you grow up . I was 15 when I first wrote a blog post, I'm 18 now, so much has changed, I got over the last year of middle school, high school, and now I'm going to collage. I changed so much as a person and the blog saw me changing and that makes me super happy :)

10- You keep track of your memories, how was I like in June 2014? let's just go to the blog archives and see what I posted that month, years from now I will go back to this month and I will know that those pictures ware taken on this day by that person, I will know that this was when I worked at a club as my summer job, etc.
