Be Afraid, Do It Anyways

For someone who doesn't write hair related blog posts, this is the second time that I am doing so in a short period of time, but with good reason.
For many years now I wanted to change my hair, I did cut it pretty drastically one year ago, and once when I was like 16 I died my ends red, but that was about it when it came to drastic changes from me. I was always afraid of not liking the result, and truth to be told I love my natural blond honey hair colour.
When I chopped it off last year the main motivation was the fact that it was super damaged after a summer spent in the sun, diving in the ocean and in swimming pools and with lack of hair care (the usual).

This year, however, I decided that it was time for a change. I wanted to do something different from what I had done before. Once I had done a fringe last year, and I had loved it, I wanted to do that once again, yet I wanted to keep my hair long, that's exactly what I did when it came to the cut, something very me, very similar to what I had done in the past that yet felt like a little change.
However, the back of my mind kept telling me that I should do something more, something that would change my look a lot more than a hair cut. I've been wanting to go blonder for years now and I never got the balls to do it. I was afraid because last time I had bleached my hair, it had completely ruined it, it was super damaged for years. Now that my hair was feeling as healthy as it possibly could I was afraid to ruining it, yet again.

I was also afraid that the colour wouldn't look good on me. It's a chance we have to take whenever we are messing with something that relates to our appearance, literally the fear of fucking it up. Our face is our business card to the world, and no one wants to be seen by others in a way that doesn't make them feel comfortable. So, for me, this decision wasn't easy. It took a lot of thinking, a lot of images saved on Instagram and a lot of Pins made on Pinterest to be sure this is something that I could do.

It sounds silly, so much drama, just because of hair. Truth to be told, I never truly loved my hair 100%, even though I love its natural colour, I was never fond of its texture, how dry it was, how oily it would easily get, the lack of volume, you name it. This is a feeling I always have had growing up, until last year I chopped it all of and my confidence was found, for the first time I fell in love with my hair. I enjoyed doing hair masks, trying different hairstyles, I loved my hair. Doing something that I had never done before to it when I was the most confident I had ever been, was a terrifying thought.

I WAS AFRAID, BUT I DID IT ANYWAYS. Because in life I truly believe that we should face our fears, especially when the other option is to stay at the same place where we are right now, living life, always wondering, what if... What if I had done it? What if I wasn't afraid? Where could I be in life right now, if I had taken the chances... You guessed it, this isn't just about my hair. This is my take on life. This is my perspective, the way I try to live my life. Do the things that put me out of my comfort zone, and sometimes I will fail and feel miserable about it, other times, well, other times it will be just like my hair. It will look amazing. It will boost my confidence and make me feel like a brand new person. It will give me the chance to start with a clean slate, to be bolder, to reinvent myself. And even if those times represent 1% of the total outcomes, I say, they are still 100% worth the try.

My Thoughts on the Hair Accessories Trend

I almost never do hair posts, or hairstyles or anything hair related because I was never able to do hairstyles, I actually learned how to do a ponytail when I was 13 and I can't braid my hair to save my life. I've always approached my hair in a way to keep it healthy and brushed, maybe up in a bun, but nothing more than that.
Having hair accessories become such a huge trend in 2019 I wanted to give an opportunity to the trend, especially because accessories can really take a look to the next level. For the first time, I saw a bit of hope into making my hair looks a bit more interesting than a ponytail, a trend that will make me able to actually style my hair.

The first hair accessory that I tried I had bought last year without even realizing that it could be a hair accessory, was a tissue scarf from Parfois. I got it to tie around my neck or to my purse but then I saw a lot of people on Instagram using it around their ponytails and their buns and I decided to give it a try. I felt so good, maybe because my hairstyles are always so basic or maybe because it makes me feel like the Parisian women I've always aspired to be. The truth is, that kind of accessory became a staple in my closet. This one is extra easy to style once you most likely already own and it's a great first step when it comes to getting into this trend.

After that experience I was obsessed and I wanted more. I got a few sets of bobby pins with a special touch. These are another easy pick when it comes to simple hairstyles, there are many looks you can create using bobby pins but if they have a little special something about them they will bring your hairstyle to another level. That is basically what this trend is all about for me, pretending that I have tried really hard to look good when actually it was a simple effortless choice.

If you are anything like me and all you know how to do is to tie your hair, scrunchies are something that you need to add to your collection this season. They will keep your hair away from your face (something I find one hundred per cent necessary) and give a special touch to your look. You can also own as many as you like and have one to match each of your looks. They are a useful purchase, they look way better on your wrist than a regular hairband and will make it look like you very stylish and put together. I love the simplicity of them, I love that they work with my hair up and with my hair down and I love that I can have as many as I want to match every outfit (yes, maybe I'm a bit obsessed).

The last accessory I want to talk about are hair clips. This is probably my favourite piece when it comes to this trend, maybe because it's the easiest one to style, maybe because it totally brings my look up to a whole new level, what I know for sure is that even when this type of accessories are not trendy anymore you will probably still find them on my hair. The pearl one is always on my purse if for some reason I'm not feeling my best or if I feel like I need to look more put together this is the safety net I needed.

Overall I just want to say that I truly love this trend, it's the perfect way for girls who can't do anything with their hairs to spice up their looks. For the first time in my 22 years of existence, I love my hair, I want to try different thing and play with it. So guess my goal with this post is to inspire you to step out of your comfort zone and to try different things with your appearance because nine times out of ten you will feel more empowered about yourself and at the end of the day that if it makes you feel good, it will be worth the shot.

My after the beach shampoo || Beauty

I always like to change up my shampoo for the summer months. I go to the beach a lot and I end up washing my hair every day. I always try to look for a shampoo and conditioner that is parabens free and that is extremely hydrating. That is what I found in the new Ultimate Blends Coconut Water and Aloe Vera range from Garnier.

The Shampoo: I really like the formula of this shampoo. It's super light weight and makes my hair feel very soft and hydrated. This is not to talk about the smell. It smells so good, fresh and summery.
I love how my hair feels like it has been out of the hairdresser as soon as I dry my hair. It also helped my hair regain shine, something I feel like my hair really need it.
I can say that since I started using this range my hair is in a really really good place and that I will definitely buy this product again.

The Conditioner : I am a sucker for a hardcore conditioning product. The texture of this conditioner is really similar to a hair mask. It's super hydrating and I think you can use it almost as a mask, which is what I look for in a Summer hair care product.
The smell is similar to the smell of the shampoo. and for me the star point of this range is the hydration and shine that brings to the hair while it still feels super light weight.

Even tho Garnier is not a cruelty free brand I really liked this product and for now I'm only taking my first baby steps into the cruelty free world. I think I will repurchases this product during the summer months. Also if you know any cruelty free hair care brands please let me know in the comments!

You Red My Mind

So we are doing blogmas over here! Yeey! Of course that like everything else in my life I'm late to the blogmas posts party, meaning that it was supposed to start yesterday, but I spend my day traveling and I decided at 4AM that I was going to do this so that is why we are starting late.
Today we are going to talk about an hair "tool" and if you know me you know that hair is NOT my department, so the fact that I feel comfortable enough to come here and talk about and hair product should mean something.

With this product is kind of a once you go Invisibobble you can go back. This is a hair tie that doesn't hurt your hair/head.
I've used countless packs over the years, but they do last a fair amount of time. Each hair tie lasts around 4/6 months before breaking.
The ones I'm sharing with you are the new Holiday Collection metallic red ones in You Red My Mind.

I know they look tiny but they expand with use. Honestly the only thing that changes with use is how many times you have to turn and twist your Invisibobble until your hair is secure.
I really believe that this is the best thing to invest in if you, like me tie your hair on daily basses.

Where? How much? Why?
Sephora or online . Around 5€ . Because it is the BEST hair tie in the market!

My take over on the messy bun

If you know me you know that my skill for hairstyles is basically non existing, and to prove that I'm gonna talk about the easiest hairstyle ever to be done, yes I'm talking about the messy bun.
I've been wanting to try this out for quite some time now, a kind of more put together messy bun then normal, so I went on the wonderful tutorial world (aka youtube) and I found this one which is basically a bun like I do every day when I'm on the go but less tight and without hair out of my bun.
By the way this one is away cutter then what I normally do.

I'm in love with this hairstyle, mainly because it's a hair style that I can actually make which for me is an achievement but also because keeps my hair out of my face, is not a pony tail and makes me look pulled together (when we all know that I'm a huge mess).
By the way my pants are from Tifosi and the sweater is from Pull&Bear.

What do you guys think of this post and what about this hairstyle?

June Favorites (All Drugstore)

I feel like my monthly favorites are always a weird thing because I feel like everyone has a million of favorites every month and I only have like 5 or 6 favorites every time. June was a different month in terms of favorite products because they are all from the drugstore and all perfect for the summer.

In the summer I love to have some messy beach waves going on in my hair and for that I love the Trésemme Perfectly UnDone Waves See Salt Spray, I've used it almost every day in June and it gives my hair a simple and messy but put together hair look that i love.
Another product that ends up being a Summer must have is the Vaseline Spray and Go in Aloe Fresh. This is an amazing refreshing and super quick step on my after shower body care routine, it's a super easy product and amazing for girls that like me are always late.
Now let's talk a bit about skincare and let's start of with makeup wipes. If you know me you would know that I'm not a big fan of makeup wipes because i don't think that they remove all the makeup in my skin but I always keep a pack in my bag just in case. The other day I got these Bonté Cleasing Wipes for combination to oily skin and I love then. They do a good job removing my makeup, they have a really fresh smell and are super budget friendly.

Another skincare product that I've been loving is the Garnier Skin Active Oil-Infused Micellar Water. This is what i use daily to remove all of my face and lips makeup. The fact that the micellar water is infused with oil makes removing the makeup much quicker.
For makeup I've been loving two products. The first one that I'm going to mention is the Evian Facial Spray that was just released in Portuguese drugstores. This is the mini version (because this is actually pricey and I just wanted to give it a try) I've been using it in between steps in my foundation routine and at the end of my makeup to set it and to help it last longer. I also been using it during the day to feel a bit more fresh when the makeup starts to feel a bit heavy on the face but I'm out and about, I love this product and I couldn't recommend it more.
And last but not least the only proper makeup product that I've been using is the NYX Tango With Bronze Powder in the shade Tan Enthusiasm. This is a great all in product cause I can use it as a bronzer, a blush , a highlighter and eyeshadow. The possibliatlys are endless. It's amazing for the summer because all we want is to wear as little makeup as we possibly can and this product does that job perfectly.

What are your monthly favorites for June?
Do you love any of these products?
